Justice League film

Hello everyone (who am I kidding, no one is reading this). I haven't posted in a long time because I had originally thought this to be a diaster. I've had about 2 years worth of stuff now I'd like to write and decided to revisit and rework my blog.

My first order of business is to write about A Justice League movie. Now DC has said they have no plans to do a Justice League film because they think their heroes can stand on their own and don't need to cross over. Plus, Christopher Nolan has said his Batman movies wouldn't work because his films exist in their own diffrent universe where Batman is the only hero (or the first) and the realism of his films wouldn't work alongside Superman and company.

Now they are right, the DC's characters can stand on their own, and their history so rich that they don't need to cross over because they have so much going on that only work with their films (from the Green Lantern Corps, Atlantians, Amazonians, Krpytonians, and others, it would be hard for them to live in the same universe).

But....

After seeing the trailer for Green Lantern I became inspired to cast the rest of the DC universe, which then peeked my intrest on the Justic League, and how it could be done. Over Thanksgiving, a combination of the show Young Justice and the tv special Turtles Forever inspired me and an idea was born on how to crossover the complex universe of the DC's universe.

In 1985 DC comics published a comic called Crisis on Infite Earths (which lead to a semi sequel in 2005 Infite Crisis) that explored the concept of multiverses and characters from diffrent time periods in the DC universe crossing over. In the recent animated Turtles Forever, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from the new 2003 series meet their 1980's counterpart. They find out their is a multiverse of Ninja Turtles (we get to see the 90's movie, 2007 TMNT, and other comics) which eventaully leads to them meeting their original comicbook counter parts.

This would be a good idea to explore for a Justice League movie. Have the multiverse of the film universes begin to collapse, and the movie versions of theses heroes meet up and have to restore the balance. It would seperate it from Marvel's The Avengers with it being a larger multiverse and alien scale, and make for a new way for the heroes to meet without ruining the continuties of their respected film worlds. Plus, it could work because the alien responsible for the multiverses in the comic Crisis on Infite Earth is Krona, who is rumored to appear in the upcoming Green Lantern film.

Plus, you could show the ultimate easter egg, by showing the many diffrent ways theses characters have been shown by showing the diffrent multiverses (show on screens the Tim Burton Batman films, the original Superman, the 60's Batman tv show, 70's Wonder Woman show, 50's Superman show, Watchmen, Jonah Hex, animted DC Justice League, and other comic story lines like The Dark Knight Returns, Superman Red Sun, All Star Superman, the original comics).

To bring this all together, you need a great director with a background in multiple character storys, pleasing a hard core fanbase, and a talented writter in sci-fi. Marvel got Joss Whedon for their epic team up, and DC should take a cue and get another nerd dream. To direct the Justice League movie...



DIRECTOR-Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, Roswell, Caprica)
Ronald D. Moore is one of the best writters on TV, being able to handle the complex themes of genocide, human life, fate, terroism, and religion on Battlestar, which was one of the best shows on TV. It showed he could handle complex themes, and his background on Star Trek shows his ability to handle sci-fi with a rich and complex continuity. Moore is someone who takes his work serious, and treats his viewers with respect. Much like Whedon, he's a tv guy who can do work better then some people in the movie business can. I would love to see the guy who brought Buffy in charge of Marvel's big team, and the guy who reinvinted Battlestar helming the Justice League. Moore would bring some serious drama and complex themes to the movies, and would be able to work out the diffrent dimensions.


As for the rest of the creative team. Christopher Nolan is said to be "godfathering" the next Superman movie, and is DC's new poster with him in charge of bringing the Justice League together. I think Nolan would be a great producer, along with his wife Emma Thomas.

As for writters. Ronald D. Moore should write of course, but also Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, who are the creators and currently write for ABC's No Ordinary Family. Both are also the writters for the upcoming Green Lantern film and are also both writting a movie based on the Flash. So get the guys who brought Green Lantern and Flash with the guy who reintroduced Batman and Superman together with the man who reinvinted Battlestar Galactica and you've got a dream team.



Now, on to the cast.


Superman-Brandon Routh (Superman Returns, Scott Pilgrim VS the World, Zack and Miri make a Porno)
I know they are rebooting Superman (and I have a fancast for that as well that I'll post), but for the sake of this film. I wanted to include Routh because he was the Superman we were hoping for and had such ensuasium about. The idea of him meeting Christan Bale's Batman was our dream and I couldn't resist. Routh was very good in the role of Superman and Clark Kent, and to see him leading the Justice League would be great. He has the commanding prsesence and the leadership abilities and has grown as an actor.



Batman-Christian Bale (Batman Begins, the Dark Knight, the Prestige, American Psycho, the Machinist, Terminator: Salvation, 3:10 to Yuma, Rescue Dawn)
Bale is the Batman for the modern age, and will be the actor who has played Batman the longest with the third Batman film coming out. Now Nolan and Bale have said this will be the last Batman movie for them, and it's a shame. But maybe this could be a place to pick up at. Maybe they could persuade Bale into coming back as Batman for this film, and have the events in this film lead to another actor taking his place, a diffrent Batman from another universe. Now Nolan's Batman doesn't fit into the rest of the superhero world because of how realistic it is, and that in his universe, Batman is the first and only superhero. So this diffrent dimension storyline could work, with Batman going into more fantastical worlds, and other superheroes coming into his world and how it would effect it. Bale is the Batman we all know and we'd all love to see him as Batman in the Justice League, and to see how he could hold againist other heroes.



Wonder Woman-Marion Cotillard (La Vie En Rose, Inception, Public Enemies, Big Fish, Nine)
Now this is from my Wonder Woman fancast (which I'll also publish). Wonder Woman is one of the last great heroes that doesn't have a movie, and we've all been waiting for it. Wonder Woman is one of the hardest superheroes to cast because we all have our own idea of what she should be. Marion Cottiard is all the things Wonder Woman should be. She's smart, beautiful, and strong, and a good actress who has shown wowed us time and again. Being a superhero would be the next step in her career and I can't picture any one more beautiful, intteligent, and better then her to play Wonder Woman.


Green Lantern-Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the Proposal, Buried, Adventureland, Blade Trinity, the Aminitville Horror, Waiting…)
Reynolds is the Green Lantern now, and to have a Justice League movie without the actor that brought him into the spotlight would be a crime. Reynolds is bringing someting new to the role of Hal Jordan and I can't wait to see what he brings. And it would be great to see Reynolds in a movie with Christian Bale, Marion Cottiard, and Brandon Routh. Plus, Green Lantern would be an inesential part of the film because his space origins and roots would help to explain the multiverse and the transdimensions.



The Flash-Bradley Cooper (The Hangover, the A-Team, Valentine’s Day, Yes Man, Wedding Crashers, He’s Just not that into you, Case 39)
There has been a rumor of Cooper being cast as the Flash, and that just really seems to work in my mind. He was one of the choices for Green Lantern, but I see him more as the Flash because while the Flash can be funny, he also is supposed to have a dark side to him that Cooper can play really well. He has the look of the Flash and seems like an actor for a superhero, and he could bring something diffrent to the Flash. Plus, Warner Brother's really likes him and since they are the owners of DC, it could help. The Flash's super speed and time travel plot lines could really help with the idea of diffrent dimmensions for the plot of this film. And it would be fun to see Cooper and Reynolds in the same movie.



Aquaman-Adrian Grenier (Entourage, the Devil Wears Prada)
This one, I know is a wierd one, but I can explain this one. Mainly...it's because Grenier character on HBO's hit show Entourage plays Aquaman in a fictional movie, and now I can't picture an Aquaman movie without him. I see why he would be chosen, he has theses really noticable blue eyes, that are calm like the ocean and that you'd think Aquaman would have. Plus, Grenier really is a good actor and I'm suprised he isn't a bigger star. So this would be a great way of life immitating art.



Martian Manhunter-Ralph Fiennes (Harry Potter, Schindler’s List, Clash of the Titans, the Hurt Locker, the Reader, In Bruges, the English Patient, Quiz Show)
I was just talking about how Ralph Fiennes always plays the bad guy and why he hasn't really been a good guy before. Martian Manhunter was always a hard one to cast, because I always pictured him being done with CGI or makeup and was always trying to cast a voice. No one seemed right to me, but it just sort of hit me...Ralph Fiennes would be perfect. Fiennes has such a great voice, which can be intellegent but also very cold, like the Martian Manhunter should be. Plus what better way to show you can play a hero then to play a superhero. Fiennes has such a great body of work, and to have someone of his presence and body of work in this movie would really help, and he would make the character into something much more.





Thoses are the main 7 that I would want to appear in the film. The rest are just other DC heroes I'd like to see join the Justice League in later films.


Green Arrow-James Roday (Psych)
I know I cast him as Captain America, but I knew that was never going to happen (and neither will this), but Roday is such a great actor and I see so much potential in him that I would love to see him play a superhero. A few months ago, back in February I was thinking about a Green Arrow movie, and to me Roday fits Green Arrow more then he does Captain America. Green Arrow was a party boy who becomes a hero, and a very political liberal hero. Roday is good at comedy, but he is also good at serious dramatic moments, and I think he would be a great Green Arrow. Green Arrow is one of my favroite superheroes and Roday is one of my favroite actors as well, so it just fits.



Black Canary-Diane Kruger (Inglorious Basterds, Troy, Joyeux Noel, National Treasure, National Tresssure 2: Book of Secrets)
It always seemed right to me for Kruger to play Canary. Kruger has such a beauty about her, but also can be tough and strong and hold her own in a movie (espically in Inglorious Basterds). I really can't explain why this seems right to me, it just does.


Hawkman-Daniel Craig (Casino Royal, Quantum of Solace, Cowboys & Aliens, Snatch, the Golden Compass, Road to Perdition, Munich, Defiance)
There was a rumor a few months back, saying that DC was doing a Hawkman movie. I've never really taken an intrest in Hawkman, and don't know that much about him. But I did do a little research, and he has to be tough and strong, with a certain royal look, but also beaten up. Which describes Daniel Craig. Craig just screams cool and badass, and he's the first Bond who can look good, look cool, but still belive he can kick ass. Craig has a certain look beaten up look to him that would work so well for Hawkman, as a big tough guy.



Atom-Jason Bateman (Arrested Development, Juno, Up in the Air, Hancock, the Kingdom, State of Play, the Break Up)
Much like Hank Pym in the Avengers, it is hard to take a hero who can shrink seriously. But Atom like Pym is a cocky scientest. But unlike Pym, who I always saw as young, I saw Atom as a little older and a guy who is still trying to stay young. Maybe an older guy who is still acting young. Bateman plays the negative side of that in Juno, and you really despise him at that point. But Bateman is a really funny guy and we've seen it in so many movies, and I'd like to see him play a superhero.


Zatanna-Kate Winslet (Titanic, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, the Reader, Revolutionary Road, Sense and Sensibility, Finding Neverland)
Winslet is a 6 time academy award nominated actress (and won once). Winslet is such a beautiful and talented actress and the idea of her playing a superhero would just be incredible. I know it will never happen, and it is very unlikly will see this character on the screen, but Winslet to me would be the perfect choice. Winslet is so talented and would bring with her the wide range of films she has done. Zatanna is a really underrated characters and I would personally love to see her in a film.


Captain Marvel-Sage Brocklebank (Psych)
Captain Marvel is an interesting hero in the sense that his alter ego is a little boy. He is a little boy who becomes a man, but is still a boy. Sage Brocklebank is a tall guy, and you'd think he'd be a superhero by now, but the main reason I chose Sage was because he has the look of a little boy in his eyes, and in his voice and attitude where he seems like a little kid in an adult body, which is what Captain Marvel is.


Doctor Fate-Hugh Laurie (House, Sense and Sensibility, 101 Dalmatians, Stuart Little, Monsters VS Aliens, Flight of the Phoenix, the Man in the Iron Mask)
Dr. Fate is just such a cool hero. Something about his outfit looks so cool and his presence that that costume brings has to be cool, so you've got to get a good actor, with a great voice. That's hard but Laurie is such a talented actor who can do so many types of roles, and Fate would be no problem for him. Laurie has such a presence and a voice that is already cool, and to see him in that outfit would only be cooler.



So thoses are my choices to play the main members of the Justice League, the core 7 and the back up characters. A Justice League movie is possible with the right team behind it. A great director, writters, cast and crew. A story based on diffrent universes to combine theses legendary heroes in to one massive film with a grand epic scope that would cross numerous universes.
